TRICARE
TRICARE is the worldwide health care program for active duty and retired military
personnel members and their families set up by the Department of Defense. In
April of 2001, fiscal year 2001 National Defense Authorization Act has established
a TRICARE Pharmacy
Program for senior citizens
TRICARE entitles Medicare-eligible retirees of the uniformed services, their
spouses and survivors to the same pharmacy benefit as uniformed services
beneficiaries under age 65.
There are no enrollment fees or waiting periods for this new program. All
you need is your military ID card and you are automatically eligible. To verify
that your family's information is up to date, call the Defense
Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) toll free Monday through
Friday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time at 1-800-538-9552.
Part of the TRICARE services is a Pharmacy Benefit administered through the
National Mail Order Pharmacy (NMOP), TRICARE Retail Networks and Military Treatment
Facility (MTF).
MTF is the most economical way to go. Prescription drugs are Free. You can

The most practical way to order your medication is through National Mail
Order Pharmacy.
Prescription drugs purchased at NMOP are only $3 for up to a 90-day supply
of generic medications, or $9 for up to a 90-day supply of brand name medications.
