Mindful of the rush by some politicians to hitch a ride on the cross-border prescription drug express and the law be damned, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy has joined its Canadian counterpart to develop a framework to bring some order to the chaos that is the Canadian Rx drug trade.

A system similar to the one used by state pharmacy boards to regulate out-of-state pharmacies is under discussion by NABP and Canada's National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA), said Carmen Catizone, NABP executive director. "If a pharmacy in Canada was going to provide drugs to the United States, there could be U.S. registration or licensure and cooperation in terms of sharing information between the province [where the pharmacy is located] and the state," he said. "We're trying to get all the provinces to meet with NABP representatives and see how we can make this work." Click Here to read the entire article.
